Ralph Williams

Born in Washington D.C. the artist attended public schools in Chevy Chase, Maryland and later high school at St. Albans on the grounds of the National Cathedral Close in Washington.  It was during this time that his fascination with painting began under the guidance of a distinguished artist and teacher, Dean Stanbaugh.  Williams went on to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where he graduated with distinction in 1950.  During his time at Cornell, the interest in art and later sculpture in clay, wood and stone flourished under the guidance of Professor Washburn and many other gifted teachers.  After completing medical school at Cornell in New York City in 1954, the artist began a professional career in Internal Medicine and Immunological Disorders, which spanned more than four decades in Minnesota, then Albuquerque, next Florida and now Albuquerque and Santa Fe once again since September 1998.

I have always loved to draw and paint.  Most of my paintings are landscapes or water scenes of places I have considered to be striking or beautiful.  There are so many lovely things in the world about us that it seems important to me that artist should try to record such beautiful impressions and preserve them somehow for others to enjoy.
