Patrick Howesa is a Hopi from the 2nd Mesa in Arizona.

 

The form of carving the cottonwood to create the Kachina is enhanced by using the bas relief technique. This is not typically seen in the craft of

Kachina carving, yet the work of the Howesa is as intricate and detailed as the three dimension kachina carvings and the detail is enhanced by the colorful painting applied to the wood.
